Scratch Masters

Christown Lanes

  1. 1.The Optional Scratch Masters competition is open to PRIT 2009 bowlers only.

  2. 2.The nine (9) game scratch total from the handicap tournament is used to determine the eight qualifiers and one (1) alternate for the Round Robin (match game) competition.  If a TIE exists for 8th place, there will be a one-game roll-off to determine the qualifier.

  3. 3.The eight (8) qualifiers bowl one (1) match game against each of the other seven (7) qualifiers, and a final position match. The winner of each match receives 30 bonus pins added to their score, the loser gets zero (0). In case of a tie, 15 bonus pins are added to each bowler’s score.

  4. 4.A lane schedule will be posted before the squad begins. This lists what lane each bowler is to bowl on for each of the seven (7) matches. The final match is determined by position. The leader draws for the first lane. All other positions line up to the right of the leader’s lane.

  5. 5.The highest four (4) bowlers from the match game competition advance to the finals, with #4 vs. #3, the winner of that match bowls #2, etc. There are no bonus pins awarded, and no carry over from the match game competition. If a TIE exists during any game of the final stepladder competition, a 9th and 10th frame roll-off determines which bowler advances.

  6. 6.Bowlers must check in fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled match game competition at 8:30 am on Sunday, March 15, 2009.

  7. 7.If a bowler has not checked in by the scheduled time, the alternate bowls. The unavailable bowler is disqualified and forfeits his/her entry fee into Scratch Masters. The alternate assumes the #8 (or lowest) position and the others advance accordingly.

  8. 8.Bowlers are allowed 10 minutes practice before the first match and 2 balls on each lane before the start of each stepladder match. No other practice is allowed.

Golf

If you like the beautiful Arizona spring weather, crave a challenge, or just love to shout “FORE!”, then we have the event for you! Please join us for our annual trek to the golf course for the PRIT Golf Tournament. Golfers can sign up as a single or twosome. Teams of 4 are then randomly formed to compete in a scramble.  In a scramble each player hits the ball. The team determines who made the best shot and the other 3 golfers move their balls to that location for the next shot. Repeat until a ball is in the cup. This format allows golfers of all ability levels to compete on an equal basis. Prizes are awarded to teams and individuals for outstanding efforts (good and bad) including the coveted Dubious Dead Duck Award.  This event requires no golf experience (or even clubs, you can rent them!), just a desire to join other bowlers for an afternoon of fun, laughter, and even some pretty good golf shots.  As always, we will make sure that all early team squad bowlers are given early tee times so that they will have plenty of time to golf and get to the lanes with time to spare.

Scotch Doubles

As always we will hold our “Yes, I can buy a Strike” Scotch Doubles event. In this event, two bowlers bowl as one. Bowler A throws the first ball and bowler B attempts to pick up the spare. If bowler A gets a strike, then bowler B will throw the first ball in the next frame. This event will be held at 11:30 am Sunday morning at Christown Lanes.  The cost will be $15 per bowler. Bowlers may enter with a partner or enter as a single. Handicap will be 90% of the team average and 225. For example, bowlers with averages of 150 and 170 will have a team average of 160. Like last year we will allow bowlers to purchase 3 strikes for $10. Bowlers may choose to use these strikes anywhere in the 4 games.  Each strike must be used after the first ball is thrown and will be used by the bowler that threw that ball.  Free strikes are non-transferable.  A 4th “last ditch effort” strike can be purchased for an additional $10.  This last ditch effort may be purchased at any time during the 4 games. All money collected from the purchase of free strikes will be added directly into the scotch doubles prize fund.

It is strongly encouraged that bowlers pre-register for this event due to limited time and number of lanes. 

Walk-ins will be permitted as long as space is available.  The squad will be limited to 136 bowlers.
