The following shall govern the 2010 Phoenix Regional Invitational Tournament:
  1. The Phoenix Regional Invitational Tournament will be a mixed handicap competition open to men and women by invitation only.
  2. This tournament will be a USBC certified event and will be held in accordance with USBC rules and regulations.
  3. All entrants are required to hold current a 2009/2010 USBC membership card. (Rule 300c). Participants who are not members of USBC can qualify for an entry by paying a participation fee of $5.00 (USBC-Rule 300c2). Sanction cards must be presented at check in.
  4. The following rules shall be used to determine the entering average:
    a. The 2008/2009 USBC Book or IGBO Tournament Average Database (TAD) average (21-game minimum) as of 2/14/2010*, whichever is higher. If none, the highest league average as of 12/31/09. If none, then highest 2009 summer average (21-game minimum) If none, then entering average shall be 225.
    b. Sport league averages will not be accepted.
    c. Bowlers using an average other 2008/09 USBC Book or TAD average, must provide documentation of their averages that is satisfactory to the tournament director.
    d. The tournament director reserves the right to adjust a bowler's average if just cause is presented.
  5. Failure to provide proper documentation of the correct average when required shall disqualify tournament scores if submitted average is lower than the actual average.
  6. Entries without proper average verification will not be accepted.
  7. Bowler's handicap shall be 90% of the difference between 225 and the bowler's average. Negative handicaps will not apply.
  8. Late bowlers will start in the frame in which they are ready to bowl with all prior frames being scored as zero (0).
  9. Bowlers are permitted to bowl only once in each event.
  10. Teams and doubles may consist of any combination of men and/or women. Teams shall consist of four bowlers.
  11. Substitutes may be used with the tournament director's approval. Any substitute that cashes in singles, doubles, or team events will receive any payment in excess of the entry fee. Those monies will be returned to the paying entrant.
  12. No entry will be accepted without full payment. Checks and/or money orders should be made payable to PRIT (Phoenix Regional Invitational Tournament). No personal checks will be accepted after 2/22/2010. All prize fees collected in an event will be returned 100% and will be paid in a 1:8 ratio for the participants in that event.
  13. Full team entries will be given priority in squad time preferences. Partial Entries will be accepted, and every effort will be made to grant the requested squad times. Entering the scratch master event does not guarantee entry into the Thursday or Friday night squad, if the squads are already at capacity.Entry fees will be broken down as follows:

  14. Check in time for each event will be 30 minutes prior to the start of the squad.
    * The TAD average will be the actual average that is in the database on 2/14/2010. Tournament scores that were bowled prior to that date, but not entered into the database, will not be considered.
  15. Singles will be a separate event for men and women. Equal prize money will be paid to the first three places for both men and women. The remaining places will be paid in a 1:8 ratio men and women.
  16. The tournament director will resolve any issues that may arise which are not clearly covered in these rules. All complaints of error must be made in writing to the tournament director not more than one hour after the completion of the scheduled event.
  17. All bowlers will be given 10 minutes of practice before each squad.
  18. All prize money will be paid by check after verification of all averages and scores and within 30 days after completion of the tournament in compliance with USBC rules.
  19. Bowlers entering scratch master must bowl team event Thursday or Friday night.
  20. Entries must be postmarked by 2/22/2010.



Optional Scratch Masters

  1. The Optional Scratch Masters competition is open to PRIT 2010 bowlers only.
    Divisions will be as follows:
    A 200+
    B 185-199
    C 170-184
    D 155-169
    E 154 and below
  2. All bowlers in this event must bowl team event either Thursday or Friday nights.
  3. The prize fund for the Scratch Masters Event is based solely on the number of participants less lineage fees for each division. 100% of the entry fees collected minus the lineage will be returned as prize money.
  4. The nine (9) game scratch totals from the bowler’s singles, doubles and team events are used to determine the six qualifiers and one (1) alternate for the Round Robin (match game) competition. If a TIE exists for 6th place, the bowler with highest scratch 3 game series will qualify.
  5. The six (6) qualifiers bowl one (1) match game against each of the other five (5) qualifiers, and a final position match. The winner of each match receives 30 bonus pins added to their score. The loser gets zero (0). In case of a tie, 15 bonus pins are added to each bowler's score.
  6. A lane schedule will be posted before the squad begins. This will list the lane that each bowler is to bowl on for each of the five (5) matches. The final match is determined by position. The leader draws for the first pair of lanes. All other positions line up to the right of the leader's lane.
  7. The highest four (4) bowlers from the match game competition will advance to the finals. This will be a head to head match consisting of one (1) game with 4th place bowling 3rd place. The winner will advance to bowl against 2nd place and that winner will advance to bowl against the 1st place qualifier. There are no bonus pins awarded, and no carry over from the match game competition. If a TIE exists during any game of the final stepladder competition, a 9th and 10th frame roll-off determines which bowler advances.
  8. Qualifiers and the alternate must sign in at least fifteen (15) minutes before the match game competition is scheduled to begin (prior to 8:45). The scheduled match play competition will begin promptly at 9:00am. A bowler that has not signed in by 8:45 will be disqualified and the alternate will be used. A disqualified bowler will forfeit their entry fee.
  9. A bowler that is unable to continue during any portion of the match play will receive a score of zero for any remaining frames or games. The opposing bowler will bowl the game as if in competition and receive the 30 point bonus.
  10. Bowlers will be allowed 10 minutes practice before the first match on any of the lanes assigned to that division and 2 balls on each lane before the start of each stepladder match. Advancing bowlers will not be allowed additional practice. No other practice is allowed.
